What I Know for Sure After 4.5 Years of Helping Families Plan the Most Magical Vacations

Four and a half years ago, I started helping families plan Disney trips professionally — and somewhere along the way, it turned into so much more than booking hotels and tickets.

Here's what I know for sure now that I didn't fully understand back then.

The Trip Was Never Really About the Destination

Families don't come home talking about the resort lobby or the exact ride they rode. They come home talking about the moment their kid's face lit up meeting a princess, the quiet breakfast together before the parks opened, the inside joke that started on day two and lasted the whole trip. The destination is the backdrop. The memories are the point.

Planning With Intention Beats Planning With Excitement

Excitement gets you to hit "book." Intention is what actually makes the trip good. The families who take the time to think through pacing, priorities, and what they actually want out of the week — not what they saw on someone else's Instagram — are consistently the ones who come home saying it was the best trip they've ever taken.

The Small Details Are What Make or Break the Week

Nap timing. Dining reservations booked before you even land. Lightning Lane strategy. None of these sound exciting on their own. But they are almost always the difference between a trip that flows and a trip that feels like survival mode by day three.

Every Family's "Magical" Looks Different

Some families want character breakfasts and every parade. Others want quiet mornings, one park a day, and plenty of pool time. Neither is wrong. The mistake is trying to plan someone else's version of magical instead of your own family's.

The Best Trips Aren't the Most Expensive Ones

I've watched families spend a fortune and come home exhausted. I've watched families stick to a tight budget and come home saying it was the best week of their lives. The difference was never the money — it was the plan behind it.

This Is What 4.5 Years Has Taught Me

After planning trip after trip, the thing I know for sure is this: the magic isn't something Disney (or any destination) hands you automatically. It's something you build, on purpose, with the right plan behind it.

That's exactly what I help families do — every single time. 🤍

If you're ready to start planning a trip built around what actually matters to your family, I'd love to help.

Katie
