Movie Night Magic: Princess and the Frog (Lennon's Pick!)
This month's movie night theme was chosen by the boss herself — Lennon picked Princess and the Frog, and honestly? Tiana might be one of the most underrated Disney princesses out there. A girl with a dream, a work ethic, and a whole lot of heart in the middle of New Orleans — what's not to love.
So we went all in on the theme, and this menu might be one of my favorites yet.
The Menu
Jambalaya — because you cannot do a Princess and the Frog movie night without a little taste of New Orleans. Rice, spice, and everything nice (and a little heat).
Cornbread — the perfect side to soak up all that jambalaya goodness. Warm, buttery, and gone in about five minutes flat.
Beignets — the real star of the night. We used an actual kit from the OG Café du Monde (yes, THE Café du Monde) for the most authentic beignets we could make at home. I'll link the kit on Amazon below because if you're doing this movie night, you need the real deal, not a shortcut version.
We drizzled a little honey over the top and then went absolutely heavy on the powdered sugar — because that's the whole point, right? A beignet without a powdered sugar cloud covering your entire kitchen table isn't a real beignet.
Sweet Tea — because you can't do a New Orleans-inspired night without good old-fashioned Southern sweet tea. Simple, classic, and it just fits the whole vibe of the evening.
The Verdict
Between the food, the movie, and Lennon narrating half the plot to us before it even happened (she's seen it a few times, clearly), this one was an easy win. Tiana's whole storyline about working hard for your dreams hit a little different watching it as a mom now versus watching it as a kid myself.
10 out of 10, would make beignets again immediately.
