Travel Tip Tuesday: Cruise Pro Moves 🚢

(the things no one tells you… until you really need them)

Cruises are one of my absolute favorite ways to travel.

Unpack once. Visit multiple places. Endless food. Built-in entertainment.
It’s honestly one of the easiest, most fun ways to vacation—especially as a busy mom.

But here’s the thing…

There are a few very specific cruise tips that you don’t realize you need
until you’re already on the ship wishing you had them šŸ˜…

So let’s make sure that doesn’t happen to you.

3 Cruise Packing ā€œPro Movesā€ You’ll Thank Yourself For

These are small, simple things that make a BIG difference once you’re onboard:

1) Magnetic Hooks = Instant Extra Storage

Here’s a little secret most first-time cruisers don’t know:

šŸ‘‰ Cruise cabin walls are metal.

Which means… magnetic hooks = your new best friend.

Use them for:

  • Hats

  • Lanyards (hello room key cards!)

  • Swimsuits

  • Backpacks or day bags

Cruise cabins are cozy (aka small), so having vertical storage helps keep everything organized and off the floor.

Here’s the ones we use!

2) Multi-Port USB Charger (Skip the Power Strip)

Outlets in cruise cabins are limited—and sometimes in awkward spots.

A compact multi-port USB charger lets you charge:

  • Phones

  • Apple Watches

  • AirPods

  • Tablets

All at the same time—without everyone fighting over one plug.

šŸ‘‰ Quick tip: Most cruise lines don’t allow traditional power strips,
so a USB hub is the safer (and smarter) option.

3) A Lightweight, Wind-Friendly Layer

Even if you’re sailing somewhere warm, don’t skip this.

Between:

  • Windy decks at night

  • Chilly indoor dining rooms

  • Early morning ocean breezes

You’ll be so glad you packed a light jacket, wrap, or sweatshirt.

It’s one of those things you don’t think about… until you’re freezing at dinner šŸ˜…

Bonus ā€œHonorable Mentionsā€ (If You Have Room)

These aren’t must-haves—but they’re definitely nice to have:

āœ”ļø Waterproof Pouch

Perfect for port days when you want to keep your:

  • Phone

  • Cards

  • Cash

Safe from water, sand, or unexpected splashes.

This set is what we have used!

āœ”ļø Motion Sickness Meds

Even if you think you won’t need them…

šŸ‘‰ Bring them anyway.

Weather and water conditions can change quickly, and it’s always better to be prepared than trying to track something down onboard.

Speaking as someone who definitely gets motion sick on cruises and in the car, this is what I used. And when we went to Disney, we used these for Lennon & I am going to try them on myself next time!

Why These Little Things Matter

Cruises are designed to be easy—but the small details can take your trip from:

šŸ‘‰ ā€œThis is funā€
to
šŸ‘‰ ā€œThis is SO smooth and stress-freeā€

It’s all about being just a little more prepared so you can fully relax once you’re onboard.

Final Thoughts

You don’t need to overpack for a cruise…
but having a few smart extras can make a big difference.

These are the kinds of tips that:

  • Save space

  • Reduce stress

  • And make your room and daily routine feel way more functional

Save this for your next cruise 🚢✨
And tell me—are you more of a pool deck all day or explore every port kind of traveler? šŸ‘€

xoxo,
Katie
