Mom Hack Monday: My Sunday Reset (The Real Version)
I've seen a lot of "Sunday reset" content on the internet. The aesthetic ones with the matching containers and the perfectly folded linen and the smoothie that somehow takes 45 minutes to make.
That's not mine.
My Sunday reset is practical, a little chaotic, smells like fresh bread, and ends with me feeling genuinely ready for the week. Here's what it actually looks like.
The Bread
I bake bread on Sundays.
It started as something I wanted to try and turned into one of my favorite parts of the week. There's something about having homemade bread in the house on Monday morning that makes everything feel a little more intentional. Like I did something good for my family before the week even started.
If you've never tried it — it's more approachable than it sounds. And the smell alone is worth it. Check out my bread maker & fave supplies here!
The Cheese
I shred my own cheese for the week on Sundays too. I know, I know — you can buy it pre-shredded. But fresh shredded cheese melts better, tastes better, and honestly it takes five minutes. Plus it’s way healthier and doesn’t have any of the fillers that pre-shredded does. Shout out to Ashe County Cheese that I get from none other than Blue’s Farm in Burlington (if you’re local, go support them!). Once you start doing it as part of a routine it stops feeling like a chore.
Diego's Food
Yes, I make our dog Diego's food. He eats well in this house. Because again, ingredients matter. And he’s turned into a whole new dog since I started making his food. Sunday is his prep day too — because if Diego's fed well, Diego is happy, and a happy Diego makes everything run smoother. (If you follow me, you know Diego is a whole personality.)
Lennon's Outfits for the Week
This one has been a game changer for our mornings. Every Sunday I pull out Lennon's outfits for the entire week — Monday through Friday, laid out and ready. Shoutout to my favorite organizer that hangs over her door to make this easier!
No more "I can't find my shirt." No more last-minute debates about what to wear when we have seven minutes before we need to be out the door. It's done. The week-morning version of me is very grateful for the Sunday version of me every single time.
Sheets and Towels
Fresh sheets and towels every Sunday. This is non-negotiable for me. There is nothing like getting into a freshly made bed on a Sunday night — it's such a small thing and such a big reset at the same time.
The Planner and Skylight Calendar
This is the piece that ties everything together. Before the week starts I sit down with my planner and review my Skylight calendar to see exactly what's ahead. What's on Lennon's schedule. What I have for work. What needs to happen and when.
When I skip this step the whole week feels reactive. When I do it I feel like I'm running the week instead of the week running me.
This week that means knowing Lennon has her field trip on Friday — which means her outfit for Friday is already picked, her bag is already thought about, and I can actually be present and excited for it instead of scrambling the morning of.
Why This Works for Me
My Sunday reset isn't about being perfect. It's about setting up the people I love — Lennon, Diego, and honestly myself — to have a smoother week.
It's the most loving thing I do that nobody really sees. And that's okay. I see it every Monday morning when everything just... works.
What does your Sunday reset look like? I'd love to know. Drop it in the comments. 💛
xoxo,
Katie
