Why EPCOT Is a No-Skip Park (Yes, Even With Kids)
I hear this pushback all the time when I'm planning a family's Disney trip: "Do we really need to do EPCOT? Isn't that more of an adult park?"
I get it — EPCOT has a reputation. Drinking around the World Showcase is a real thing, and yes, it's a lot of fun for the grown-ups. But if that's the only reason EPCOT is on your radar, you and your kids are missing out on one of the most magical, memorable parks in all of Walt Disney World. This is not a park to skip — for boys or girls, little kids or big kids. Let me tell you why.
Kidcot: The Educational Win You Didn't Know You Needed
If you haven't heard of Kidcot Fun Stops, this alone might change your mind about EPCOT. As you walk through World Showcase, kids can stop at each country pavilion, get a stamp or craft activity, and learn a little something about that country's culture along the way. It's hands-on, it's engaging, and it turns a walk through World Showcase into a genuine learning experience — the kind of educational win parents love to see happen without any resistance from the kids.
The Best Princess Meet and Greets in All of Disney
If your child is big into princesses, EPCOT might just be the best park in all of Disney World for meeting them. The interactions here are unlike anywhere else — unrushed, personal, and genuinely magical.
On our last trip, Jasmine walked alongside Lennon for a while, telling her all kinds of stories about Rajah and the palace. It wasn't a quick photo and done — it was a real moment, one Lennon still talks about.
And then there's Belle in the France Pavilion, who has always been my personal favorite. She doesn't just make the moment magical for the kids — this last trip, she genuinely made me cry (happy tears, of course) by encouraging me and telling me how proud she was of me. That's the kind of experience you simply cannot get anywhere else in the parks. These meet and greets have consistently brought some of the most magical memories our family has from any Disney trip.
Rides for Every Kind of Thrill-Seeker
EPCOT's ride lineup has genuinely something for everyone, from gentle family rides to a legitimate thrill:
Frozen Ever After — a must for any Arendelle fan
Ratatouille — adorable, immersive, and a hit with younger kids
The Seas with Nemo & Friends — sweet and slow-paced, perfect for littles
Soarin' — a family favorite that feels like flying
Spaceship Earth — a relaxing, iconic ride through human history
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind — my personal favorite, and a serious thrill ride the older kids (and parents) will love
Figment / Journey Into Imagination — whimsical and fun for the little ones
That's not even counting the experiences beyond the rides — Turtle Talk with Crush, the Moana water experience, and yes, the Coca-Cola tasting room, which somehow manages to entertain kids and adults in equal measure.
The Food (and Yes, the Drinks)
The food at EPCOT is genuinely some of the best in all of Disney World, and it goes to a whole different level during festival season — Food & Wine, Flower & Garden, the holidays. Every pavilion has something worth trying, and it's honestly one of the best ways to introduce kids to new foods and flavors from around the world without them even realizing that's what's happening.
And sure, the drinks are good too. Drinking around the World Showcase is a real and fun tradition — but it's just one small part of what makes this park special, not the whole story.
Don't Skip Days at the Best World Showcase
Add in the entertainment — the shows, the nighttime spectacular, the live performances scattered throughout the day — and EPCOT becomes a park that can easily fill a full day and leave your family wanting more.
So the next time you're building out your Disney itinerary and thinking about skipping EPCOT because it "feels like an adult park," I want you to remember Kidcot stamps, Jasmine's stories about Rajah, Belle's encouragement, Cosmic Rewind, and a Mickey pretzel from the France Pavilion. This park has something for every single member of your family — and it deserves a full day on your itinerary, not a rushed afternoon or a skip altogether.
xoxo,
Katie
