Big Changes Are Coming to the My Disney Experience App — Here's What You Need to Know
Okay friends, if you have been frustrated with the My Disney Experience app — you are not alone and Disney has officially heard you.
On May 28, 2026, Disney announced what is honestly the most significant overhaul of the My Disney Experience app in years. We are talking a full visual redesign, new planning tools, AI-powered search, and more. These updates are rolling out over the coming months, with Walt Disney World getting them first and Disneyland following later in the year.
I know I am a little late sharing this one and I am sorry about that — but better late than never because this is news worth knowing before your next trip! Let's break down everything that is coming. 📱✨
What Is Changing in the My Disney Experience App?
1. A Brand New Homepage
The homepage is getting a complete visual redesign. The updated version will bring your trip details, reservations, travel party information, and planning reminders all into one place so everything you need is right in front of you the moment you open the app.
If you have ever felt like the app was cluttered or hard to navigate, this is the update you have been waiting for.
2. A Trip Checklist Feature ✅
One of the most exciting additions is a brand new Trip Checklist feature designed to help you keep track of everything you need to do before your trip. If you have ever panicked trying to remember whether you made your dining reservations or purchased your Lightning Lane passes, this feature is going to be a game changer.
Think of it as your Disney to-do list built right into the app.
3. Trip Party Plan Sharing 👨👩👧👦
Planning a Disney trip with a group is about to get so much easier. Disney is introducing simplified plan sharing so your whole travel party can see and coordinate plans together without the back and forth chaos of texting screenshots to everyone.
Anyone who has ever tried to coordinate a Disney trip with extended family or a group of friends knows exactly why this one matters. 😂
4. AI-Powered Search 🤖
This one is a big deal. One of the most consistent frustrations guests have had with the My Disney Experience app is the search function — it has historically been clunky, slow, and not great at finding what you are actually looking for.
Disney is fixing that with a brand new AI-powered search platform that promises to make finding dining options, attractions, and information dramatically easier. Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro has shared that AI will also help guests compare vacation options and review Disney rates across multiple dates on the website — making it easier than ever to find the best time to book your trip.
5. Spanish Language Support 🌎
Since its launch, the My Disney Experience app has only been available in English. That is changing! Spanish language support is coming to the app soon, following the Walt Disney World website which has offered multiple languages for some time. Additional languages may follow, but Spanish is the first to roll out.
This is a meaningful and long overdue update for so many Disney families.
What Has Already Updated
While most of the big changes are still rolling out, a few updates have already landed:
MyDisney Wallet — A new MyDisney Wallet feature has already rolled out, allowing guests to store and manage payment methods directly within the app. It replaces the previous MagicBands & Cards section and makes managing your payment options much more streamlined.
My Plans — The update that combined today's plans and future plans into one single cohesive "My Plans" flow has already improved ease of use by 8% according to Disney data. If you have noticed this change on your app already, that is why!
Simplified Dining Reservations — Disney also updated the dining reservation booking flow to make search easier, which reportedly improved guest satisfaction by 5% and drove record-high website ratings. Small change, big impact.
What This Means for Your Disney Trip Planning
Here is the honest truth — planning a Disney World vacation has always required a lot of moving pieces. Lightning Lane, dining reservations, resort check-in, park passes, hotel details — it can feel overwhelming even for seasoned Disney guests.
These updates are Disney's way of saying they hear you and they want the planning process to feel as magical as the trip itself. Clearer choices, simpler language, fewer steps, and tools that actually work. That is the goal.
And as your Disney travel advisor, I am here to tell you that even WITH these updates, having someone in your corner who knows the ins and outs of Disney planning makes the whole experience infinitely better. I keep up with every change, every update, and every new feature so you do not have to.
